      Volvo to open five new outlets in India

      The Swedish luxury car maker Volvo is planning to enhance its network in the Indian market by opening five new dealerships in the country. With the opening of these new dealerships, the company will be able to take the total number of its dealerships to 12 by the end of this year. The cities where these new dealerships will be opened include Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

      Volvo India marked its debut in the Indian market in year 2008 with the opening its first dealership in the country. At present the company has seven dealerships in India that comprises of one each at New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Kochi Pune and Hyderabad.

      The decision of opening new dealerships has been taken in the view of overwhelming response received by the Indian buyers. In year 2010, Volvo managed to sell 130 cars in India.

      According to a statement given by Volvo Auto India Managing Director Paul de Voijs, the Indian luxury car segment is estimated to touch about 140,000 to 150,000 units by 2020. He added that Volvo is very optimistic the market will continue to grow and gradually it will also become a significant player.
