      Volvo to launch V40 Cross Country petrol on April 20, 2015

      Volvo, the Swedish luxury carmaker, will launch a petrol variant of the V40 Cross Country in the Indian car market on April 20, 2015. Currently, the vehicle is available in one diesel variant in front wheel drive layout. The petrol model, however, will be an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, and will come to India through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

      The new petrol variant is likely to get a four-cylinder direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 245bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all-wheels of the car via an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. The existing diesel model is powered by a 2.0L in-line five turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 148bhp of power 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed 'Powershift' automatic gearbox which sends power to the front wheels of the vehicle.

      The Cross Country is basically the jagged-up version of the regular hatchback. The flared wheel arches of the car have been fitted to 17-inch "Larenta" alloy wheels with brushed-aluminum finish.

      For passenger safety and security, the petrol Volvo V40 Cross Country gets front curtain and knee airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, electronic stability control, child safety lock, etc. Other features are leather seats, cruise control, park assistance system, rear parking camera with sensors, panoramic sunroof, etc. There is an eight-inch TFT screen based infotainment system that allows driver to switch among three driving modes - Elegance, Eco and Performance.
