Volvo Auto India, the well-appreciated and globally renowned Swedish multinational automotive maker, has officially declared its monthly sales figures registered in the domestic car market during January 2013. The company witnessed a three-fold surge in the number of units sold at 75 units in the last month.
As per reports, Volvo Auto India had garnered sales of just 26 units in January 2012. The company announced latest January sales figures through a press statement, which said, “The highest ever year-on-year growth was primarily driven by sales of Volvo S60 and Volvo XC60.”
Expressing his delight with the impressive start to the 2013 calendar year, Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director (MD), Volvo Auto India, was quoted as saying, “We are very happy to have a great start to the New Year. We closed 2012 with almost a 150 per cent annual growth and now a very promising start of 2013 with another record 188 per cent Year-on-Year (YOY) growth in January.”
Currently, Volvo Auto India offers two premium sedan models- S60 and S80, and two premium utility vehicles- XC60 and XC90 to the domestic car enthusiasts. The company's best selling models- Volvo S60 luxury sedan comes with retail price tags in the range starting from Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 35 lakhs, while the luxury crossover Volvo XC60 is available in the price bracket of Rs. 35 lakhs and Rs. 42 lakhs in the country. Further, the base models of Volvo S80 sedan and Volvo XC90 luxury Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) carry retail price tags of Rs. 33 lakhs and Rs. 42.8 lakhs, respectively, in the Indian auto market.
