Swedish car maker Volvo has launched tweaked version of S80 in India at a grand event organized at Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International airport, New Delhi. New Volvo S80 has been launched at Rs 41.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). New Volvo S80 sedan is being offered only in diesel version. Facelifted version of S80 gets minor changes on the design front. Revisions have been made to the front profile which is visible in the form of restyled head lights with daytime running lights, a reworked bumper and a petite front grille. Minimal changes like new design on the alloy wheels and slightly modified rear bumper can be seen. Besides this, the side profile is untouched as far as modifications are concerned.
Cabin looks plush from inside and comes equipped with a host of advanced features. The all black theme inside the cabin compliments well with the wooden inserts on the dashboard. Central console also gets a tinge of wooden inserts, it also flaunts a new floating design. The sedan offers ample leg room and head room. A 7-inch Sensus touch screen is affixed on the dashboard, internet can also be accessed in-car through dongle or via mobile phone with internet facility.
The sedan is proffered in two variants, D4 and D5, the D4 version is a five cylinder motor with a displacement of 2000cc. D4 engine is capable of generating a maximum power output of 165 PS along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. Top-of-the-line trim is powered with a D5, five cylinder, 2.4 litre powertrain that engenders a top power of 215 PS and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. The sedan propels from zilch to 100 kmph within 7.8 seconds and attains a top speed of 225 kmph. Fuel economy of 12.5 kmpl is delivered by the luxury sedan.
Volvo S80 is one of the well equipped cars in its segment with features like advanced ESP and head lamps that bend while taking corners, an Intelli safe function is proffered that applies brakes automatically when car senses an untoward incident like accident.
