Volvo's upcoming V40 Cross Country facelift has been revealed through images ahead of its global launch. This is the production version of the car that gets cosmetic as well as mechanical upgrades.
The exterior enhancements include a new vertical grille and a bigger Volvo logo. The most prominent change comes in the form of new ‘Thor Hammer’ inspired headlamps featuring T-shaped LED daytime running lamps. Volvo might also offer a different pattern of alloy wheels on this refreshed vehicle. There are no major changes at the back, save for small revisions to the tail lamp and bumper.
The cabin of the V40 Cross Country is also updated. The Swedish carmaker will offer a new leather upholstery, which is named as 'City Weave' and was also displayed in the Volvo's Estate Concept. The interior is further made interesting as the panels use a variety of materials like black grid aluminium, milled aluminium and stealth aluminium.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country is also expected to get new engine options. This is likely to include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor. The power output for the petrol engines might range from 152bhp to 245bhp. On the other hand, the oil-burner should churn out 120bhp to 190bhp of power. The six-speed automatic transmission will be offered as standard, while the top-of-the-line models may get the eight-speed gearbox and the AWD system.
Volvo might launch this facelifted model in the global market by the end of this year. We also can expect these cosmetic and mechanical updates to the Indian model following its global launch. The carmaker has recently started to offer a petrol variant for the Indian market, so we can expect the refreshed V40 Cross Country to be offered in both petrol and diesel variants.
