Volvo has initiated a recall of 30,000 cars of models C30, S40 and V50 due to the gear shift problem. The gear shift problem makes its difficult for the driver to change gears. The British market is the most affected market with the recall followed by Sweden and Germany.

The problem seems to affect the 6 speed manual gear box car models for 2010 and 2011. Around 6,708 cars will be recalled from Britain alone making it the most affected with Sweden and Germany following thereafter. No accidents or loss of lives has been reported so far owing to the problem.

The company spokesman Per-Aake Froesberg stated that the cars in question are 2010 and 2011 models and the gear box was “easy to fix.” Owners of the models in question could take their cars to a local retailer where the ball joints would be adjusted properly in less than an hour, he said.
