Swedish luxury car maker Volvo is developing an entry-level sports utility vehicle (SUV) – XC30 – that will be rolled-out in the global market by the fall of year 2013. The new compact SUV will be a direct competitor to the likes of BMW X1, upcoming Audi Q3 and upcoming Mercedes Benz GLC. If it enters India, the new XC30 is expected to further raise the competition in the already highly competitive compact luxury SUV segment here.

Carrying most of its design cues from Volvo’s best-selling super luxury XC60, the new XC30 is being designed to take the success and profitability of the Volvo luxury cars to next level.

As per the industry reports, the new XC30 would be rolled-out in two versions in the global market that comprises of a Europe bound standard-wheelbase version, and a stretched model for the markets like China and North America. In India, the new XC30 is likely to be launched in standard version in the price range of Rs 20 to 25 lakh.
