Volvo has officially introduced the S90 for the Australian market and prices range from AUD 79,900 (Rs 40.22 lakh) to AUD 98,900 (Rs49.79 lakh).
With the S90 saloon, Volvo expects to now target buyers who would otherwise opt for a BMW5 Series or a Mercedes-Benz E-Class. That said, this saloon also happens to undercut the E-Class Australian range by a margin of AUD 10,000 and AUD 40,000 (Rs 5.03 to 20.13 lakh) depending on the variant.
Powering the petrol S90 T5 will be the 250bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol while the petrol T6 version will use a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged motorthat makes 315bhp.Diesel power for the D4 model will come from the 188bhp 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel and the D5 will use the same mill that’s retuned to produce 232bhp.
Reports suggest that the S90’s D5 and T6 Inscription versions will first roll into Australian showrooms this month, after which T5 and D4 Momentum models will be available later in November.
Volvo is expected to introduce the S90 for the Indian market before the end of this year.
