Volkswagen India recently revealed its plan to expand its foothold in India and acquire a sizeable chunk of market share in the exponentially growing automotive market. To achieve its goal the company is planning to overhaul its current portfolio and foray in new segments through its new models. Polo and Vento being the most popular among its India range remain to be the focal point for car maker; hence after rolling out Polo in avatar the company is now gearing up updated Vento launch. However there is yet no official confirmation on the launch month yet, but speculations opine that Volkswagen could roll out Vento facelift during the festive season. Hence we expect the tweaked Vento to go on sale in domestic market within a few days. The sedan will collide head on with rivals in C segment such as new Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and upcoming Maruti Ciaz sedan due for launch in October. Apart from cosmetic and mechanical tweaks, the sedan could be inducted in a new colour option. Changes made to the exteriors include modified front bumper, redesigned front grille and new alloy wheels sporting a new design. Spruced up cabin will include additional features and a couple of other tweaks.
The highlight of upcoming Vento facelift remains replacement of 1.6 litre diesel engine with a new 1.5 litre diesel powertrain. The diesel engine introduced in Polo facelift is a downsized version of the 1.6 litre engine and is capable of outputting a maximum power of 104 Bhp. A six-speed DSG gearbox will be mated to the 1.5 litre diesel engine channelizing power to the front wheels. As for the petrol variants of new Vento, they will be housed with the same engine as equipped in the outgoing version.
