When the SUV rage was still an upcoming trend sometime in 2014, Volkswagen revealed a stylish crossover SUV concept called the T-Roc. After four years of development, the brand recently showcased the production version.
What we have here, however, is the high performance version of the T-Roc. Dubbed T-Roc R, this model is actually one of the victims of the VW’s infamous dieselgate scandal and as a result, it may never see the light of the day. However, the R-engineers are still hoping to get a thumbs up from the white-collar guys at VW. If that happens, we expect the T-Roc ‘R’ to get a lowered chassis, bigger wheels and some sportier exterior details. Of course, it will also get the familiar VW 2-litre turbocharged engine with around 306bhp of power, allowing the T-Roc R to hit 100kmph from standstill in less than 5 seconds.
The standard T-Roc range is expected to hit the European markets later this year. We expect VW India to bring the T-Roc to India to compete against the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Creta.
