Volkswagen will launch the new Beetle on December 19 for the Indian market. The iconic hatchback is making its comeback to our country in its latest avatar.

The Beetle is a two-door car from Volkswagen that grabs one’s attention quickly due to its unique shape. The latest iteration of the Beetle features a panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlamps, leather interiors and chrome packages for interior and the exterior. The car will be available in four body colour options - habanero orange, oryx white, tornado red, and blue silk.

The earlier one that was discontinued from the Indian market was powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that churned out 114bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. This is the third generation Beetle that is powered by a 147bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol mill. This powerplant comes mated to the seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and power will be delivered to the front wheels.

The VW Beetle was first introduced to the Indian car market in 2009 and was later discontinued in 2013. The new Beetle will be launched in our country this month through the CBU route. It will cater to the niche segment of buyers and compete with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, BMW 1-Series, Mini Cooper and the Fiat 595 Competizione.
