Volkswagen, in America, has revealed the 2016 Jetta GLI model, equipped with a powerful EA888 4-cylinder engine sourced from the Golf GTI. The car features a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection powertrain, which has the potential to churn out a maximum power of 210 bhp. In order to cope up with this output, the company has incorporated a specially tuned sports suspension system in its new model in order to offer a better handling. Notably, Jetta happens to be the most selling car for Volkswagen in America, and thus the auto maker planned to introduce this new model.

As far as looks are concerned, the front fascia of Jetta GLI is quite aggressive thanks to its honeycomb grille and fog lamps. The rear end also got a major overhaul with an appealing pair of chrome-tipped exhaust. The side profile is complemented with a new set of 18-inch Mallory design aluminum-alloy wheels, which are fitted with all-weather tyres. From the design of new Jetta GLI, industry experts are of a view that these updates are probably what Indian buyers were waiting for from a long time - at least these looks if not the same engine.

As soon as one steps in the interiors, the first thing noticed there is the new MIB 2 infotainment system, which comes with features like USB and Car-Net connectivity options. Other advancements offered in the car include Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, LED tail-lights, keyless entry with push-button start, sunroof, 6-way power driver seat, rear-view camera, Fender Premium Audio System, front and rear Park Distance Control, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

Apart from the regular features, the Jetta GLI also has some high-end features like a navigation system, blind spot detection with rear traffic alert, Bi-Xenon headlamps with the Adaptive front-lighting system and Homelink. Interestingly, the Adaptive front-lighting system swivels the beam of main headlamp by up to 15 per cent as the steering wheel is turned in order to provide a better illumination on road to the driver to at speeds above 10 kmph.
