The all new Volkswagen Polo GTI made its global debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2015. Now, a test mule of the same was spotted testing in India hinting that Volkswagen India might most likely launch it in our country after its unveiling at the upcoming Auto Expo.

The Polo GTI sighted taking rounds might be powered by a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol mill. This unit produces 188bhp of power and a maximum torque of 320Nm thrusting the car from 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds. The powerplant comes mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. According to reports, the hot hatch will get an all new sports suspension and disc brakes. It will get engine drag torque control, vehicle dynamics function XDS+ and electronic differential lock.

Cosmetically, the Polo GTI for the Indian market might get the same design as the one available globally. The hatchback gets LED headlamps, a honeycomb mesh grille, re-designed bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers. The cabin of the GTI features sport seats, new upholstery with contrast red stitching, a re-designed steering wheel and aluminium pedals.

VW India have not yet made any announcements regarding the launch of this much-awaited model. We expect the Volkswagen Polo GTI to be launched through the CBU route initially. However, reports suggest that VW might consider launching the car via the CKD route. More details will be available at the Auto Expo in the coming month.
