Volkswagen entered the small car segment in India last month with the launch of the Polo. The car has already been termed as “The World Car of the Year” at the recent international auto show. It has all the features to lure customers in terms of design, safety and comfort. Volkswagen Polo has already received more than 5000 bookings within one month of its launch. The wait period is 3-4 weeks for delivery of the vehicle after the bookings.
Volkswagen Polo was launched with a base price of Rs. 4.34 lakh. It was introduced at the recent Delhi Auto Expo 2010 in January this year. After the duty roll back, the new base price is Rs. 4.42 lakh. The model is currently available only as a petrol option and the diesel variant will be available some time after May 2010.
Volkswagen Polo comes as a strong contender in the premium hatchback segment. It fights fiercely with Maruti Swift, Ritz and Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20 and Fiat Punto in its segment.
