      Volkswagen Polo Faces Booking Cancellations

Volkswagen launched its small car model Polo in India in March this year. In competition with models like Ford Figo and Chevrolet Beat, Polo got a fairly good response to the car but now Indian customers seem to turn away owning the car. There is nothing wrong with the model but with its long waiting period. The current waiting period for Polos is more than six weeks and with auto market facing fierce competition, there is not much to hold back the customers to wait for the car for such a long time.

Volkswagen has delivered nearly 4500 cars so far and still has more than 10000 bookings pending with its dealers pan India. “Waiting period for the Polo is four-six months. Whatever commitments we make to the customer, we’ve been able to honour that. There have been few cancellations by customers, around 30 to 40 from time to time,” said Neeraj Garg, Director, VW India. He also stated that the company does not intend to make any short term plans to clear the backlog and shall stick to its original schedule for India.
