      Volkswagen Polo facelift coming next month, Vento expected by festive season

      Exhibited globally in March at the 2014 Geneva Motor show, Volkswagen Polofaceliftis set to make India debut soon. Sources close to development opine that the tweaked version of Polo hatchback will be launched in India by next month. Volkswagen India is also working on thefaceliftversion of its popular sedanVento. Thefaceliftversion of theVentosedan is likely to go on sale by the festive season this year. VolkswagenVentowill sport couple of exterior, interiors and mechanical changes.On the exterior front, the vehicle will sport a new bumper featuring wide air dam, LED head lights and tail lamps will be offered optional on high end variants. Inside the cabin, a new centre console andelectro-mechanical steering wheel will be seen. The petrol and diesel variants will continue to be powered with the same 1.6 litre, petrol engine that churns out a top power and torque output of 103Bhpand 250Nm. A 1.2 litre petrol motor equipping the sportier variant will also be put on offer. Diesel trims will come with the option of a 1.5 litre, four cylinder oil burner good for 105 PS and 250Nm. ADSGautotrannywill be mated to the diesel engine.

      Keeping abreast with the Volkswagen’s Think Blue Philosophy, the German auto maker has equipped upgraded Polo with a newly developed 1.5 litre, four cylinder, diesel engine pumping out a maximum power and torque output of 105 PS and 250Nmrespectively.ADSGtransmission will be paired the new diesel motor. Also this qualifies Polo for the scanty excise duty levied on sub-four meter cars equipped with engines under 1.5litre, therefore we believe that Polo could be priced competitively. Petrol variants of Polo will be powered by a 1.2 litreTSIengine that will be mated to a seven-speedDSGtransmission.

      Among the exterior changes, the black housing for the reflectors in the head lamps will be retained but the catch is that it will come with silver detailing. LED daytime running lights will go missing in India-spec model and the new Polo will come with a single slat chrome grille. Other modifications include a reworked bumper and fog lamps. Inside the cabin, the centre console gets the matte silver surrounding it, a new three spoke steering wheel donning piano black shade, steering mounted controls for the convenience of driver and a few more additions.
