      Volkswagen Polo Coming to India

      The Volkswagen Polo is scheduled to be launched in India by early next year. According to the latest from the company, the plans to launch VW Polo in India are “well on track” and the car will be launched as a four door hatchback model in the B2 segment in India. This segment currently has models like Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Chevrolet UVA, Fiat Punto and Honda Jazz.

      “This segment has growth potential, with leading car makers such as Volkswagen India (Passenger car) Director. "We have heavily invested in the plant at Pune and right now, the pre-production stage is going on and we should launch Polo by next year,” he added. However, he declined to confirm whether auto parts will be sourced from the domestic market.

      VW has its plant in near Pune which will be used exclusively to produce on Polo range of cars. German auto giant is also planning to double its distribution network in India and increase its brand presence in the country before it launches its new small car. The company currently has 22 dealership outlets in the country, of which two are in Chennai. Volkswagen will also spend more on brand building exercises in India and will also launch VW Beetle in India imported as a completely built unit.
