Volkswagen has been a strong brand in the global automotive circuit. This time around the company has been planning on launching a new compact SUV for the Indian and other international markets. The company has chosen to remain tight lipped about the upcoming vehicle and has not even revealed as to what platform would the vehicle be based on. One of the board member named Dr Heinz-Jakob Neuser’ has stated that the upcoming SUV may likely be based on Polo hatchback and make its presence felt soon in markets like China, South America and Europe.
Based on media reports, the company is reportedly working on an all-new SUV on the versatile MQB platform; however, few reports have suggested that the new model shall likely be based on the PQ25 platform. The vehicle is likely to go on sale from sometime by 2016-17. The Indian market is likely to receive an all-new compact SUV which would be will be based on the PQ25 platform. Currently, the company is selling Polo and Vento sedan on the same platform, and every possibility is that the maker could opt for the same platform to build the India-spec compact SUV.
