Volkswagen, the German luxury car manufacturer, will launch the 2015 Jetta facelift in the Indian car market on February 17th. The sedan will come as completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit, and will be locally assembled at Volkswagen’s Chakan factory, near Pune. Ahead of its launch, the details about the updated Jetta have been revealed on the interweb.
The 2015 VW Jetta facelift will continue to be offered with the same engine and transmission line-up. It will continue to be offered in six variants. The petrol version of the sedan gets the 1.4-litre TSI unit that is good for 122bhp and 200Nm of torque, and this engine is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. The oil burner is a 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 138bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. The Jetta diesel will be offered in both six-speed manual and twin clutch DSG automatic transmissions.
Volkswagen Jetta facelift will be offered in three trim levels- Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Globally, the sedan comes with improved fuel efficiency; however, the fuel efficiency of India-spec model is likely to remain unchanged. Talking about changes, the updated model gets cosmetic and aerodynamic upgrades on the outside; however, the updates to interiors are very minimal.
The front fascia of the all-new Jetta sedan has a new triple-slat chrome grille, restyled headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, and restyled bumper with new foglight enclosure. The other changes include new set of alloy wheels, LED tail lamp cluster and modified bumper. Inside, the sedan gets new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, new infotainment system with piano black surround and new upholstery.
