Volkswagen, the German carmaker, is all set to launch the Jetta facelift in the Indian car market. First unveiled at the 2014 New York Motor Show, the vehicle is likely to hit Indian shores by the first quarter of 2015. VW India has already imported the updated Jetta sedan for homologation purpose.

The VW Jetta facelift sedan gets a restyled front fascia with new triple-slat chrome grille, restyled bumper with foglamp enclosures. The slightly modified headlamps get integrated LED daytime running lights. The flared wheel arches of the sedan have been fitted to an all-new set of alloy wheels, while the side profile of the saloon remains unchanged. The rear end gets new LED tail lamp cluster and tweaked bumper.

Inside, the VW Jetta facelift receives minimal changes. It features a new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and new music system with piano-black surrounds, which further enhances the overall ambience of the cabin. The Volkswagen Jetta mechanics remains unchanged, and it continues to feature the same 1.4L TFSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel units. While the petrol engine is capable of producing 120bhp and 200Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 138bhp of power. It is quite early to comment whether the India-bound model would get EA288 TDI engine, offered on the American model. The VW Jetta will compete against the likes of Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia.
