      Volkswagen India cruising with record breaking sales from Jan to June

      Volkswagen Group India is enjoying its journey in Indian auto market by registering record sales in the first half of this year. The figures from January to June witnessed 55,091 units of cars being sold out this year. Half yearly sales have clocked more than double figures as compared to last year’s 17,367 cars in the same period.

      Dr. John Chacko, President and MD of the company and Chief Representative in India said that the major reason for their tremendous boom in sales is the growing faith of customers in the company.

      Examining the launches of German group cars this year, Volkswagen India unwrapped Vento IPL and New Passat which proved to be boosters with sales figures reaching 37,678 in the first half of the current year in contrast to 2010’s first six months sales of 6,202.

      From the time of their introduction in this part of the world now 10 years ago, company has got confidence and respect from the customers. The German carmaker entered the country with Skoda in 2001 and brought Audi along with Volkswagen in 2007.

      All the companies in Volkswagen group have appealed to a particular section of buyers. Now, the company is getting its head down and concentrating more on improving after sales service to satisfy its buyers. Further, Volkswagen is not shy of investing in order to increase its capacity. Opening a new plant in Pune with an investment of over Rs 3,800 crores signifies company’s plans of drastic development in the Indian auto market.

      The India portfolio of Volkswagen currently includes Vento, Polo, Passat, Jetta, Beetle and Phaeton.
