      Volkswagen Group, the German auto giant, seems set to play big on the Indian auto market with its eye on the small car segment. Reportedly, the company has planned to introduce a crossover version of Polo hatchback, synonymous with what Indian arm of Skoda did with the Fabia Scout. Industry experts believe that the car will sparkle at the Indian showrooms somewhere in next year and will be offered as the top-end variant of Polo series.

      Analysts believe that the 2013 Polo crossover will be provided in both petrol as well as diesel models, in order to meet the demands of a large number of buyers. Reportedly, the new generation model will share its engine from the current Polo hatchback. Therefore, it is believed that the petrol model will house a 1.2 litre three-cylinder engine, whereas the diesel variant will be assimilated with a 1.2 litre TDI turbo engine. The output delivered by these powertrains cannot be judged, as a many speculations are taking rounds of the upcoming launch.

      The yet-to-be launched model is bound to feature few cosmetic changes, which will help it stand apart from its sister cousin. As a part of top-of-the line Polo series, the 2013 edition is also anticipated to house a handful of comfort features, which will add to the luxuries of its passengers. Advancements like body coloured bumpers, roof rails, side cladding, fine curves for improved aerodynamics and chrome polish on front grille are believed to be featured in the upcoming Polo cross. Features like leather upholstery and sporty pedals will justify the superiority of upcoming Polo against its hatchback series.

      Recently, the German auto maker introduced a festive edition model of Polo and incorporated a range of industry leading features within its iconic hatchback to make it more appealing. A new model with the moniker of Polo in the Volkswagen’s product portfolio describes the penchant of Indian buyers towards the hatchback, which is forcing the German giant to launch new avatars of the same in the Indian auto market. One such model could be Polo cross, which would again turn fortunes for the company in India. As per the industry experts, the 2013 Polo could be a perfect car for the Indian roads, which will provide a driving experience of hatchback with performance of a crossover.
