Volkswagen is celebrating its 10th appearance at the Worthsee festival by bringing out not one, but two concept cars for its loyal fans who have come from all across Europe to honour all things VW and more specifically GTI. The first as expected is a Golf GTI concept car called the First Decade while the second offering is an all-electric GTE estate concept car. Both have been design by VW apprentices from different departments and celebrate 10 years of VW officially being at Worthsee. Given their outlandish appeal, we found it only apt to regale you with a photo gallery of both these crazy machines.
1. Based on the latest Golf GTI, this car has been given a blue dual tone paint job with sporty racing strips dominating the colour scheme. It sits on massive dual tone wheels which have been spruced up with a paint job to tie in with the colours on the body.
2. One of the unique elements that Volkswagen has added to this hatchback is a massive rear spoiler which has been lifted from the Golf Clubsport model and adds to the sporty image of the car.
3. The cabin is standard VW fare but has been trimmed out with blue accents to enhance the extra sportiness that the model comes with. The rear seats have been removed and been replaced with an illuminated section on which the spare tyre has been placed.
4. This special edition Golf is a hybrid with the petrol engine powering the front wheels and a 48V electric motor powers the rear wheels. They have a combined output of 400bhp and can be used separately or in combination.
5. The GTE Estate is the second concept from the German automaker for the festival and is a full electric vehicle. It is a white coloured car that has been painted in the VW motorsports colour schemes and due to its full electric nature gets some circuitry graphics on the side.
6. Dubbed the ‘Impulse’, it rides on massive white wheels and also gets LED DRLs as a part of the design package. This electric estate is powered by a 16.8 kWH electric motor that is expected to power only the front wheels.
7. The cabin is stock GTI but in a colour scheme designed to match the funky and futuristic paint job that has been given to the outside of the car. Also included in the deal are alcantara seats, smartphone controllable ambient lighting and a massive screen for the touchscreen infotainment system.
8. This is the 10th year of VW’s involvement in the festival and it looks like they have come out with all guns blazing to celebrate a decade of support from its large and quite loyal fan base across the old continent. The fact that both these cars are geared toward hybrid and electric mobility indicates the direction in which the company wants to go.
