      Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE concept revealed

      Volkswagen, the German premium car manufacturer, has unveiled the Cross Coupe GTE concept, which is scheduled to make its public debut at the North American International Auto Show.

      The Cross Coupe GTE features an aggressive front fascia with an aluminium grille flanked by thinner LED headlamps. It is equipped with muscular fenders, aggressive creases running across the length, gloss black accents, wide air dam that is split into three parts, etc. The sloping roofline gives it a coupe like profile, while the wheel arches have been fitted to 22-inch aluminium wheels. At the rear, the Cross Coupe GTE gets tailgate mounted spoiler and smartly designed tail lamps.

      The Cross Coupe GTE is a five-seater car, which gets plain but nicely equipped interiors. It features semi-aniline Nappa leather seats, aluminium accents, a touchscreen climate control system, gloss black trim, digital instrument cluster and an advanced infotainment system with a 10.1-inch display.

      It is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that comprises of a 3.6-litre V6 engine, a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and dual electric motors. The combined power output of this powertrain is 355bhp and 379Nm of top torque. The all-wheel drive model can accelerates to 96kmph from zero in just six seconds, and it can travel up to 32km on electricity alone. Interestingly, the production spec model will offer seven seat options and will be manufactured at the company Chattanooga, Tennessee plant by the end of 2016.
