Volkswagen has declared a 17-city roadshow through which they will accept pre-launch bookings for their compact sedan, the Ameo. The Ameo is designed specifically by Volkswagen for Indian roads and is based on the Polo hatchback.
The roadshows will commence from 12 May, 2016 till 2 July, 2016 working its way through 17 cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and more. During the course of the shows, customers will get an opportunity to experience the new Ameo, explore its various features and make bookings. Volkswagen will also accept bookings through their dealers along with the roadshows, with the car being available for preview on their website and mobile application.
Volkswagen has made the Ameo available with a three-cylinder, 1.2L MPI petrol motor which makes 74bhp and 110Nm of torque and a 1.5L, four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor which puts out 89bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox with a seven-speed DSG automatic being a possibility in the future.
The Ameo was launched at the 2016 Auto Expo and it carries a lot of expectation on its shoulders from VW as it enters the competitive compact sedan segment. We expect the Ameo to be on sale within a few weeks of its launch with the petrol cars being the first to roll off out of the factory as we said earlier.
