All members of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) have come together to re-elect Vicky Chandhok for the post of the President of the body. The decision was taken at the 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM), in Chennai, headed by Dr. Vijay Mallya. At the AGM, Bharat Raj from the Karnataka Motor Sports Club (KMSC) was elected as the Vice President of the association.

Chandhok has been a prominent personality in the world of Indian motorsport and promoted the involvement of Indians in the international motorsport arena. Under his reign, the annual FIA Awards Ceremony was organised away from Europe for the first time, in New Delhi. Moreover, it was also for the first time that the AGM and the Awards Ceremony were held together, bringing the biggest deputation of FIA delegates, including more than 750 delegates from 120 nations. With this Annual General Meeting, the three year contract with Rally promoters, IMG Sports & PSP also ended.

During Chandhok's tenure in 2011, the MRF 1600 Championship was launched and the JK Tyre National Racing Championship successfully completed its 14 years. Also the last year marked the success of Formula 1 event held at Noida, along with the Delhi Championship with MRF and JK Tyre Asia Series. In his next term in office, Chandhok will spearhead the inaugural i1 Super Series, which will allow as many as nine Indian racers to show their talent on the International racing scene.

Regarding road safety, Vicky Chandhok said, “The FIA flagged off their Action for Road Safety campaign in 2011 as well and were very keen that the FMSCI align with some of the aspects of road safety in India.” He also commented, “To make further rapid strides in Indian motorsport, involvement from vehicle manufacturers is of paramount importance.”
