Sebastian Vettel, the 24 years old driver of Red Bull Racing – Renault team and present F1 World Champion, won the first race of this season in Bahrain on 22nd April 2012. His team member, Mark Webber acquired fourth position for the fourth time during the season. Vettel started on pole for the Bahrain Formula One GP and sustained his lead all over the race, apart from the time when he was confronted by Kimi Raikkonen, who represented lotus – Renault team.

The race proved to be fortunate for Lotus F1 team as their both drivers, Kimi and Romain finished on second as well as third positions, respectively. However, Kimi tried for the top position, but Vettel somehow managed to remain ahead of him. Post race, Christian Horner, Red Bull Boss, approached Kimi and felicitated him while saying, "You had a pretty strong race, huh?" Upon this, Kimi answered, "Not strong enough!"

After the race, Vettel said, "I think it was an incredible race, extremely tough. We had a good start, I was able to pull away immediately which turned out to be a big advantage because we always had to go on a used set of tyres as we used nearly all of them in qualifying. Kimi was very quick, so was Romain. The strategy, everything seemed to work. I can only say a big thank you to the team. They did an incredible job. The amount of work they had to do which we have given them because we were weren't happy with the car. Little tweaks here and there. It was tough. We were trying to get the car to our liking. We got it right this weekend, I was very happy in qualifying and the race to be fair."

As far as the F1 team of McLaren is concerned, the race did not proved to be beneficiary for them. Although their drivers Lewis and Button kick-off from second as well as fourth spots, they were not able to mark a decent finish. Lewis grabbed the 8th position, whereas Button’s exhaust splintered, and thus he had to give up in the second last circuit of the race.

On the other hand, both the drivers of Ferrari, Alonso and Massa managed to utilise the most out of whatever there car could deliver, since there cars were relatively slower from competitors. 5th position in the race is entitled to Nico Rosberg, the driver of Mercedes F1 team, whereas his team member, Schumacher grabbed the 10th position. The driver of Force India, Paul di Resta finished on sixth position, whereas his team member Nico Hulkenberg grabbed 12th stand.
