French Police have reportedly intercepted and confiscated a car loaded with banned narcotic substances like Cocaine and Marijuana. The car bore Vatican Diplomat registration plates that were issued to Vatican mission in France. The vehicle reportedly carried up to 4 kilograms of Cocaine and 200 grammes of Cannabis. It is said that the drug belonged to Argentinian cardinal Jorge Mejia aged 91 years who has been bedridden for a while. Mejia had suffered a heart attack just two days after being elected in the country.
The driver of the vehicle and his co-passenger denied knowing about the drug's presence in the vehicle. The incident is reported by RTL radio and the legal sources are yet to speak on more on this issue. It is said that, neither of the two car occupants were carrying valid Vatican diplomatic passport. Speaking more on the issue, Vatican sources have confirmed that the vehicle carrying drugs had been intercepted, but emphasized that their staff has not been involved in the matter whatsoever.
The car carrying banned substance was intercepted past weekend at a toll station near Chambery in the French Alps. The matter is under investigation for now and further details may only be known post investigation by legal authorities.
