Maruti Suzuki launched the Ciaz in the year 2014 and ever since, the flagship sedan has been receiving timely updates. The recent shots of the facelifted sedan confirm that the sedan is in for a cosmetic update and with the exterior updated, the manufacturer is expected to offer a new power train.
The spotted car sports a newly designed grille which is inspired by the Suzuki’s family design. The front bumper gets tweaked styling and a sharper air dam. The rear bumper now boasts of a sportier diffuser. Given the updated exterior, we can expect the cabin to receive minor refreshments as well.
There have been speculations that Maruti Suzuki has been working on an in-house 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor and could ditch the long running work horse, the 1.3-litre diesel engine. With a new power source, the manufacturer may offer the option of an AMT (automated transmission) too. However, the standard five-speed manual transmission will continue to be on offer.
The facelift Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be launched in the Indian market later next year. When launched, it will be on par with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
