After last visiting the Nurburgring for performance tests in January this year, Porsche’s upcoming 911 GT2 has made a re-appearance in production form with hardly any camouflage.

Apart from the design of the front fascia being similar to the 911 GT3 RS, this prototype can also be seen with two small carbon fibre winglets on either side of the front bumper above the massive splitter. Again, as seen in the pictures, the rear portion of this test mule displays the temporary fittings for the rear engine radiator grille, the yet-to-be finalised spoiler and the disguised rear bumper with the massive exhausts split apart.

Furthermore, reports suggest that this 911 GT2 will get the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that powers the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S. However, rumours have it that Porsche is looking to tweak the engine further to make at least 600bhp. Now, all that power is expected to be transferred on to the road through a rear-wheel drive, and there’s even speculation about the upcoming 911 GT2 getting a rear-wheel steering.

We shall bring you more news on the Porsche 911 GT2 in the months to come, so stay tuned to CarTrade.
