Ford seems to be set to introduce new features on the existing EcoSport in India. The updated SUV was recently snapped with a new touch screen system and alloy wheels.
The cosmetic updates to the upcoming EcoSport have been limited to a black roof and a new design pattern for the alloy wheels. This is the top-spec Titanium optional variant that gets Apollo Alnac 4G tyres 205/50 R17 instead of the 16-inch wheels on the current one.
The most welcome addition in the cabin is the touch screen system and cruise control feature that was missing on the EcoSport. The new 8-inch display fits in the housing of the Ford Sync system replacing it. It supports DVD video playback, navigation and comes paired to a rear-view camera.
Engine options for the EcoSport will be the same with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel mills, with the option of a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol motor as well. On the transmission front, the five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox will be carried over.
This updated Ford EcoSport seems to be a stopgap model before the carmaker launches the facelifted compact SUV that was unveiled in Brasil recently. We can expect Ford to launch the EcoSport with the aforesaid features soon, of course with a hike in the current prices.
