Chevrolet has been testing the upcoming Beat on Indian roads for quite a long time. The car was recently spotted again, and it's for the first time that the test mule shows off its rear design.

The disguised avatar of the test mules snapped taking rounds earlier had managed to conceal the exteriors. However, this time, the masking has reduced to reveal the new tail lamp design that should make it to the hatchback’s production version. It is similar to ones on the crossover-styled Beat Activ concept displayed at this year's Auto Expo. Instead of the LED ones, the new ones are replaced by conventional multi-reflector units. The tail gate design is similar and the integrated spoiler is carried over. And, in comparison to the existing Beat, the registration plate has now moved to the bumper. The new Beat will get the same fascia as the Beat Essentia sedan unveiled earlier this year.

The updated Chevrolet Beat will get changes in the interior as well. The instrument cluster was an interesting aspect in the Beat, and we can expect the carmaker to equip the new car with an upmarket one. The top-end LTZ variant might feature a touch screen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. The other features like height-adjustable driver seat, remote keyless entry, foldable key etc. are expected to be carried over. Likewise, the safety features including front dual airbags, ABS and EBD will also be offered.

Chevrolet is expected to carry over the powertrains from the existing Beat. This includes a 1.2-litre petrol mill that develops 79bhp of power and 108Nm of torque. There is also a 1.0-litre diesel unit rated at 57bhp of max power and 150Nm of peak torque. On the transmission front, a five-speed manual gearbox will be used in both the trims.

The Chevrolet Beat facelift might be introduced to the Indian market early next year. The upcoming model is a part of Chevrolet's two-year launch plan of introducing five new models including the Essentia, Beat Activ, Trailblazer and the next-gen Cruze.
