India being one of the most competitive automobile market on global charts, there is a wider choice of cars for the common man. Recently the concept of a compact SUV seems to have been embraced by the local crowd. Renault Duster has always been in the news since it inception in the country a while ago. The SUV sold like hot cakes due to its quality build and reliability at a lucrative price tag at which it was being offered. Off late many other carmakers have attempted to tap this compact SUV segment with much vigour. Gone are the days when Renault Duster had to compete with Ford Ecosport only. This year with planned launched for highly anticipated cars like Honda Vezel and XA Alpha, its time for Duster to come out with a twist. As per sources, the new car is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre engine that generates about 105 Hp at 5,750 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 148 Nm at 3,750 rpm. It is also said that the car may feature double optic headlamps with LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned front grill with new air intake system. On the interiors, seats have been redesigned for better comfort and the dashboard features a smarter appeal.
The car that shall steal the show for Maruti Suzuki during the upcoming Auto Expo event would be the much awaited XA Alpha. Until now the compact SUV segment was ruled by International brands such as Ford, Hyundai and Toyota, but now the competition is slated to get tougher with the launch of Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha. As per sources, the car shall be powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine. It is also said that the diesel engine has been developed by Suzuki and the current line featuring Fiat's Multijet technology may be put to rest. For now, the car shall be available in diesel version, but a petrol version can be expected down the line. It is also worth noting that this would be the first SUV attempt from Maruti Suzuki to venture into this segment.
Maruti Suzuki has always stood-by people's expectations and it would be interesting to see if this new SUV named XA Alpha manages to keep up with the company's reputation for reliable, efficient and cost-effective cars. Going by sources, the car is loaded with interesting features and may be offered at a competitive price. Renault Duster has been doing well in the Indian market; good space, rugged build and efficiency have been tried and tested by the local population.
