      Unprecedented 32-fold sales increase marked by Renault in December 2012

      Renault India Private Limited, the completely owned division of Renault S.A.S., has registered December 2012 sales with figures standing at 5924 units, marking a 32-fold increase. During corresponding period in 2011, the auto maker delivered just 185 units to the Indian buyers. With five models in its portfolio, Renault India sold 35052 units in 2012. During last 1 year, the auto maker has added three new models in its Indian portfolio, namely Pulse hatchback, Scala sedan and Duster Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

      Besides introducing new models, the French car maker established pan India dealership network of around 100 dealership points in last 1.5 years. With this move, the company has reinforced its commitment towards the Indian market.

      Speaking on the cumulative sales performance, the Managing Director of Renault India, Marc Nassif said, “It is very satisfying for all of us at Renault to close the year with sales of over 35000 units and delivering what we promised in the beginning of the year to our prospective customers.”

      During December 2012, Renault delivered 820 units of Scala, 68 units of Fluence, 4485 units of Duster, 515 units of Pulse and 36 Koleos. On the other hand, in December 2011, the auto maker sold just 185 units with two models in its Indian portfolio, Fluence and Koleos, accounting for 145 and 40 units, respectively.

      He further added, “We are confident that next year too, we will be able to keep the momentum going as our products are well accepted by our customers and Renault brand value is increasing with great feedback from customers.”

      Although the auto industry continued to remain sluggish owing to increasing fuel prices and high interest rates, the products introduced by Renault India were acknowledged by several awards from media for their efficiency and performance. Nassif said that if the market condition improved, the auto industry will surely witness a good time in the near future.
