UM has launched two new models in the Indian market, christened as Commando Classic and Commando Mojave. While the Commando Classic retails at Rs 1.89 lakhs, the Commando Mojave has been priced at Rs 1.80 lakhs. Dealerships have started accepting bookings for these bikes and deliveries are expected to commence soon.
The UM Renegade Classic was first unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo, last year. It gets the look of a swanky retro cruiser thanks to the pinstripes on the tank and body panels, extensive use of chrome and a laidback riding position. The Renegade Classic will also get an exhaustive accessory list. The Mojave on the other hand, is a special edition version of the Renegade Commando. It gets a matte desert sand colour and a leather saddlebag to set it apart from a standard Commando.
Powering the Renegade Classic and the Mojave edition is a 279cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine. Mated to a six-speed transmission, this engine delivers 24.8bhp and 23Nm of torque. The motorcycles are produced at Lohia Auto's Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand. While the Commando Classic competes against the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome, Classic Mojave is a rival to the Royal Enfield Desert Storm.
