      TVS plans two new motorcycles for India, launch early next year

      In a bid to increase its market share in India, country’s third largest two-wheeler maker, TVS is contemplating to new motorcycles in India in upcoming months. One is the new motorcycle that will be placed in commuter segment and other is the all new Apache. The company is hopeful that new launches will chip in towards the monthly sales, hence resulting in increased market share. TVS eyes a bump of 1.5 per cent this fiscal from current 12 per cent to 14.5 per cent by the end of FY 14-15 with an estimated sales objective of 60,000 units for both the motorcycles.

      Company’s commuter or executive segment includes Phoenix range and other bikes boasting of engine capacity ranging between 100-125 cc. The new motorcycle is likely to come equipped with engine capacity of 115 cc. As for the new Apache launch is concerned it is expected to be rolled out by March or April next year. Changes will be made to new Apache based on the customers’ feedback. On the other hand new commuter bike is likely to spin off within six months.

      According to the company’s plan it will come up with one new product every quarter. Following its strategy, the company so far has launched for new products including Jupitor, Wego, StartCity and Zest. Along with the domestic market, TVS exports its two-wheelers to several overseas markets. The contribution from exports in monthly sales is sizeable. TVS also has a strong dealership network in the country, it currently has 900 dealers and 3,000 sub-dealerships in India. Officials at TVS claim that company’s sales have grown substantially in last few months.
