It is not an unknown fact any more that Triumph would be soon commencing its Indian operations. Numerous reports have indicated that the British bike manufacturer is getting ready for the launch of its motorcycles in the country. The official date confirmed for the launch of Triumph brand in India is ascertained to be 28th November at an event that would be held in New Delhi. Also to mention, it was reported that the first dealership of the company would first come up in Bangalore as soon as the brand marks its presence in India. Now, the company has updated its official Indian website and it has even mentioned the list of upcoming models that might be launched in the country.

As per the website, the British manufacturer will be selling Bonneville, Street Triple, Speed Triple, Daytona 765, Tiger 800 XC, Thunderbird Storm and Rocket III in the country. However, it is quite uncertain to predict, which models will be introduced by the company during the initial stages. It must be mentioned that the auto maker would not stick to the line-up that it showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo.

What seems certain is the entry of Bonneville, which is the least expensive bike of Triumph. It comes equipped with an 865 cc air-cooled engine that gives away peak power output of 67 bhp with 67 Nm of torque. Other than this, the powerful Street Triple model is almost certain to feature in India. Deriving power from its 3-cylinder 1050 cc liquid-cooled engine, it produces 133 bhp of power and 110 Nm of maximum torque. Out of all the models that are expected to roll out in India, the most anticipated one is Rocket III. The widely acclaimed bike is equipped with a massive 3-cylinder 2294 cc engine that gives away power and torque outputs of 105 bhp and 202 Nm.

As stated on the official website, Triumph would be expanding its dealership network through metropolitan cities that include Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore that would be followed by the opening of stores in Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin and Goa. It is all likely that Triumph would be bringing its bikes in India through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route instead of choosing the expensive option of Completely Built Units (CBUs). As the bikes are expected to come through the CKD route, the indicative prices announced by the company for its models at the 2012 Auto Expo might be somewhat the same. However, since the depreciating value of Rupee against Dollar has impacted the economic situation as of now, it would be quite surprising to see Triumph coming up with the same prices.

In India, Harley-Davidson is currently counted among the best selling premium motorcycle brands in the country and Triumph would be aiming to topple the company from its perch in coming years. However, the first thing that should be coming to the mind of Triumph will be expanding its dealership network in the country, in order to take on its arch rival.
