Toyota is all set to unveil its new mid-size SUV on 1 July, 2022. Ahead of the official debut, the first images of the SUV have been leaked. The spy pictures reveal the front fascia of the SUV which will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
In the single leaked image, Toyota’s new SUV features a dual-tone red and black exterior shade. Besides that, the SUV also boasts a single chrome slat across the front grille which bears resemblance to the recently launched Glanza hatchback. The SUV will be equipped with a split headlamp setup with DRLs placed on either side of the bonnet and headlamps mounted down on the front bumper.
The nameplate on the bumper also suggests that the SUV will most likely be called ‘Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder’. Toyota India recently trademarked this name, details of which can be read here.
While the technical specifications of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are still under wraps, we expect it to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and idle start/stop. The transmission options could include manual and automated transmissions.
