Because of the blast at the Aichi Steel Corp plant on January 8, the production of steel used in auto parts including engines, transmissions and chassis had halted. As a result, the company will be seeing a shortage in the supply of steel. However, the company has not made any announcements yet on how the car production might get affected.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer is working out a solution around this situation and has even requested its affiliate if they can manufacture parts on alternate lines by procuring specialised steel from other manufacturers. The company is anyway confident that the operations at their plant can continue till February 6, thanks to the current inventory. And despite the loss in production next month, the company aims to resume operations in March.
