      Toyota to resume work at Bidadi plant effective from March 24, 2014

      Toyota’s Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motors has submitted to the Deputy Labour Commissioner that it will be lifting lock out from its Bidadi plant in the interest of the preeminent group of law abiding employees.The tiff between employees and Toyota was over hike in pay issues. Toyota India has suspended 17 workers on the grounds of misconduct and disciplinary issues.

      Company had announced lock-out at Bidadi plant on March 16, 2014, however,the issue was resolved after a meeting was conducted between the labour groups and a local government mediator.Workers can resume work at Bidadi plant effective Monday, that isMarch 24, 2014after signing a simple undertaking on good conduct.

      Toyota’s Bidadi plant is located in the suburbs of Bangalore. Around 6400 workers are employed in the Bidadi facility. The facility is spread over a huge area of 432 acres and has a capacity of manufacturing 3,10,000 units yearly.

      Toyota will also be launching new Corolla Altis on May 27, 2014 for which dealers have already started accepting bookings. With the lock out announced at Bidadi plant, the launch seemed uncertain, however now that the lock-out has been lifted from the facility, the launch is expected to take place on the decided date.
