Toyota is planning to go big this time around with the launch of Etios and Etios Liva in the next year to cater to the requirements of its fans. Due to the increasing traffic in most urban and semi-urban cities, most drivers now prefer automatic transmissions over manual ones. This reason is the most important aspect for Toyota to take up this decision.

The days are gone when the automatic transmission feature was regarded as something for a premium vehicle. There were times when automatic transmission vehicles were regarded as a status symbol in the modern generation. However, the traffic congestion increased by a fair margin in the last few years, thus leading to the requirement of automatic transmissions. One might be a bit apprehensive about the requirement of automatic transmission in the modern generation. These days, the shift among clutch, gear and accelerator is so frequent and unpredictable that it is sometimes impossible to safely manoeuvre the car. Now, most cars are being provided with AMTs as well as slick DSGs, which have made it easier for manoeuvring the car. As a result, most manufacturers are now provided with this facility. Toyota is a company, which has at least one model in all segments, including Land Cruiser, Fortuner, Corolla Altis, Etios, Etios Liva and Camry in 2015. There are complaints about the Toyota cars being a bit boring in respect of the driving features, so it is expected that the car will be customised with a six-speed gearbox.

The price will become slightly more than the current ones. Incidentally, the current price of Etios Liva is currently tagged at a price of 4.76 to 6.97 lakhs INR. On the other hand, the Etios at priced at 5.74 to 8.17 lakhs.
