Toyota starts testing the Etios facelift in India

Toyota recently launched the new Innova Crysta and has started testing the revised Etios sedan. The upcoming car will not be a completely overhauled model, but just a mid-life refresh.

The test mule spotted testing shows off the masked elements that have gone under the knife. Upfront, the bumpers have been re-sculpted and feature new fog lamps. The grille might be tweaked to give the car a different look. Similar is the case with the rear bumper that still houses the registration plate, while the tailgate might get some chrome embellishments.

Apart from these changes to the exterior, Toyota has made some minor changes to the interior as well. The multi-function steering wheel gets wrapped in leather and the air vents get a chrome accent. The instrument cluster's position hasn't changed on the dashboard, but let's hope it’s a semi-digital one unlike the old boring analog one. The top-of-the-line model might get a touch screen system and automatic climate control should also be on the cards.

The upcoming Toyota Etiosmight be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines from the existing car. The 1.5-litre petrol model churns out 90bhp of power and the diesel 1.4-litre unit produces 68bhp of power. The five-speed manual gearbox might also be carried over.

Toyota's current Etios sedan is on sale in India since 2010 and has received small updates periodically. The upcoming revamped sedan doesn't seem to be the exact model that Toyota recently launched in Brazil. However, it would be good to see if Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) takes cues from the Brazilian model and makes improvements to the Indian model as well.
