      Toyota's Hydrogen fuel cell car - Mirai, demand soars four time higher

      As the year 2014 came to end, Japanese carmaker Toyota announced the launch of its first mass market hydrogen fuel-cell car named 'Mirai'. In jsut about a month's time, Toyota stated that it received about 1,500 orders as against its expected 400 units that was expected in about a year's time. The company has stated that it has received about 60% of total orders from the government offices alone, whereas the rest 40% are from individual customers.

      A statement released by the company in this regards states, “Due to the large volume of orders received, Toyota forecasts a significantly longer time to delivery than originally expected.” The 6.7 million yen priced environmentally friendly four-door car is capable of traveling about 650 kilometers (400 miles) without needing a refill. Apart from US and European markets, the vehicle shall also be launched in places like Britain, Germany and Denmark.

      The best part about Toyota Mirai has been that, like a gasoline engine this electric car can also be refueled in just a couple of minutes and indeed fills three times faster than a regular electric car. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has emphasized on his plans to cut the red tape and set-up many hydrogen re-fueling stations.
