Toyota is preparing to launch a facelifted version of the Etios for the South American. This car that doesn't get any external changes, but a revised interior will be launched there this month.

From leaked images we can make out that the noteworthy changes in the cabin include a new digital instrument console instead of the analog one. The position of this panel still remains in the centre. Since, the seven-inch touch screen infotainment system was introduced recently, it is carried over directly. In addition, there are new features like cruise control, ISOFIX child seat mounts and head restraint. There is also a three-point seatbelt for the middle seat passenger in the second row. The exterior remains the same with the same design pattern for the alloy wheels.

There are some changes to the powertrain as the 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i and 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i flex-fuel engines are now nine per cent more efficient. The 1.5-litre mill belts out 107bhp of power, which is 10.5bhp more than its predecessor. There are changes to the transmission options as the five-speed manual gearbox is now replaced by a six-speed manual transmission. Also, the carmaker has added a new four-speed automatic transmission option now.

The Toyota Etios facelift is expected to be launched in South America by April 19 or 20. Deliveries will then begin by the end of this month. To add to the appeal of the Etios' interior, Toyota Kirloskar Motor might also bring these changes to the Indian model soon.
