The first image of the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser (LC200) facelift has been leaked online. The SUV will be launched in August 2015 in global markets, while it will make its way to India in 2016.
On the exterior, the new model will feature a large ‘wing-shape’ grille, new headlight clusters, revised front bumper and fog light enclosures. It will also get LED daytime running lights and taillights with slightly different design. The headlights, taillight and spotlights might get LED elements. Except for the windows, doors and rear panel, Toyota designers have revamped the entire styling of the SUV. Inside the cabin, the car will get a new white-on-black instrument cluster and new center console with a large display and control buttons.
As for now, no mechanical updates have been reported. Though, it is expected to feature a new 2.8-litre, four-cylinder - ‘GD’ diesel engine. This engine offers a maximum power of 177bhp and 450Nm of torque. The Indian-spec model of the new Land Cruiser will get a 4.5-litre 1VD-FTV V8 turbo-diesel engine that develops a whooping power of 318bhp and 650Nm of torque between 1, 600rpm – 2, 600rpm. This powertrain comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that can be optimized for extra torque, and maximize power supply to all four-wheels.
For people not in the know, Toyota is also planning to launch a couple of new cars and facelifts in the next 12-18 months in India. The cars that the automaker will bring-in are new-gen Innova MPV, 2016 Fortuner SUV and Vios compact sedan.
