      Toyota regains top spot in the global car market in Q1, 2012

      Leaving behind the last year’s production losses due to couple of natural disasters, the Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor’s has regained its position of world’s largest car maker in the sales of first quarter of this calendar year. The company snatched the top spot from General Motors, which was the largest vehicle maker in the global market in year 2011.

      In January to March 2012, the company managed to sell a total of 2.49 million vehicles in the global market as compared to 2.28 millionunits sold by GM and 2.16 million units sold by Volkswagen in the same period.

      The sales of Lexus, Scion, Hino and Daihatsu brands surged by during this period. The company is expecting its profits to see a double fold increase in the financial year 2012, reaching to a five year high profit figures.

      Toyota Motors is working aggressively to regain its market share in the global market by launching a number of new vehicles in the coming months.
