Toyota has launched the latest iteration of its B-segment Etios sedan. This time around the car has been named the Platinum Etios and has been given an updated look to bring it to speed with current consumer choices. Though the Platinum Etios is priced higher than its rivals (thanks to our duty structure) it does seem like decent value as you get all features found in compact sedans but with the addition of a big boot. The Etios in all its forms has never set the charts on fire thanks to a variety of factors but Toyota hopes that this time around its fortunes will change. In a bid to understand what changes they have made here is a breakup of the variants of the new Platinum Etios.
Toyota Platinum Etios VX/VXD- Rs 7.74 lakh and Rs 8.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
This is the top-of-the-line variant of the Platinum Etios and is available with both petrol and diesel power. It gets the bits and bobs that Toyota has to offer with the sedan and this list is pretty huge. Firstly, there is a chrome package which encompasses the grille, fog lamps, boot lid, side moulding, AC vents and gear knob. There is a lot on the plate with the feature list too as Toyota is offering a music system with BT, leather wrapped wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, dual fog lamps as well as alloy wheels.
Toyota Platinum Etios V/VD- Rs 7.17 lakh and Rs 8.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
This is the second level variant for the Platinum Etios and is priced Rs 57,000 lesser than the VX and VXD variants. Here you lose out on the alloy wheels, chrome bezel for the fog lamps, retraction function for the mirrors, interior chrome and wood package, fog lamps and reverse sensors. However, you still retain the whole safety package including ABS with EBD, dual airbags, seat belts with pre tensioners as well as ISOfix points for fitting child seats.
Toyota Platinum Etios G/GD- Rs 6.43 lakh and Rs 7.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
The G/GD variants of the Etios Platinum are the entry-level models for the sedan. These variants are priced Rs 74,000 lesser than the equivalent V/VD variants. This massive price drop has been achieved by removing garnish on the body, chrome package, music system as well as the wood trim from the doors. These variants also get smaller wheels and tyres compared to the other two. Even this variant retains all the safety features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags, seats belts with pre tensioners and the mounting points for the child seats.
