Toyota Kirloskar Motors is planning to launch CNG version of its popular SUV model, Toyota Innova. "Currently, we are conducting the trial run of CNG 'Innova'. We are hopeful of commercially launching the vehicle by the end of January, 2009," TKM Deputy Managing Director Sandeep Singh said.

TKM is the joint venture between Toyota Motors and Kirloskar Group in India. The company reported drop of 48.55 percent in sales in November 2008 as compared to the sales in the same month last year. It produced 2886 cars in the last month. It has also revised its annual sales target for the current year as TKM’s Managing Director stated that company’s biggest challenge will be to reach last year’s sales volume.

TKM has also announced to cut down its production in India due to falling sales. The company has cut down its production by 30 percent in the month of December. Toyota is Japan’s largest car maker and the world’s largest auto company by sales.
