Toyota launched its new Corolla Altis in India today. It had been delaying the launch of its 10th generation model in India for some time. It was launched in the global market in 2006 but has made its foray in the Indian car market this September. The 10th generation model has been christened as Corolla Altis and has earmarked the second generation of Toyota in India.

Toyota Motors is the world's largest automaker but it's still needs to gain its proper foothold in India. It has also revised its sales targets and delayed its 10 per cent market share plans till 2015. “This year’s target is to sell 63,000 vehicles, and by fiscal 2015 we are aiming for a market share of about 10 per cent. The Altis marks our big step toward the achievement of this goal,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Vice-Chairman Vikram Kirloskar said.

The new model borrows its cues from Toyota Camry and showcases an absolute chic style with contemporary interiors. It will be powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine that produces maximum power of 130 bhp at 600rpm. It comes with 5-speed manual transmission and optional 4-speed automatic transmission. The new model will replace the old Corolla model in India and shall be available at all Toyota dealer networks across India.
