      Toyota Kirloskar Expand Manufacturing Capacity

      Toyota Kirloskar is expected to increase its production capacity in India. It has its initial plant in Bangalore, set up in 1999. It now plans a second plant in its nearby vicinity. It shall be investing close to Rs. 160 crores in its second plant to double its current production capability in India.

      The company shall increase its production capacity by another 10,000 units annually for its existing models in the country. It currently has a capacity of manufacturing 60,000 units which shall go up to 70,000 units after the completion of its expansion plans. The whole project shall be assisted by Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Company that shall support Toyota operations in India. This company has been especially formed to support production capacity and supply network through improvements in efficiency and speed of each production company in different countries like India, Thailand, Malaysia, Phillippines, Taiwan and Indonesia.

      According to the company officials, Toyota India shall try to expand its current production plant capacity as much as possible before setting up a new plant. It may also set up a small car plant by end of next year or year after. The new small car shall be specifically designed for India and Brazil markets.
